Film screening Amadeus
directed by Milos Forman (1984)
Based on the play of the same name by Peter Shaffer and loosely inspired by the life of composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, the story starts from the literary premise of a heated antagonism between the young musician from Salzburg and composer Antonio Salieri from Legnago.[2]
Each scene is accompanied by a selection of Mozart’s masterpieces, including entire scenes from his operas (The Rape from the Seraglio, The Marriage of Figaro, Don Giovanni, The Magic Flute) up to the Requiem.
The film was a great success and won several awards, including eight Oscars, four Golden Globes, as many BAFTAs and three David di Donatello awards.
In 1998, the American Film Institute ranked it fifty-third on its list of the best one hundred US films of all time.
In 2019, it was selected for preservation in the National Film Registry of the US Library of Congress.
