Pasquale Corrado

Pasquale Corrado is a director, composer, and artistic producer. He holds diplomas in piano, choral conducting, composition (under A. Solbiati), and orchestral conducting (under D. Agiman) from the ‘Giuseppe Verdi’ Conservatory in Milan. He also pursued advanced studies with Ivan Fedele.

Corrado has received commissions from prestigious international institutions, including the Ensemble Intercontemporain – IRCAM Centre Pompidou (Paris), the Fondazione Orchestra e Coro Nazionale di Santa Cecilia (Rome), the Venice Biennale’s International Festival of Contemporary Music, Radio France, Fondazione Arena di Verona, Fondazione Teatro Massimo (Palermo), Fondazione Teatro Donizetti (Bergamo), Festival Nuova Musica – RAI National Symphony Orchestra (Turin), Divertimento Ensemble, Centro San Fedele (Milan), Fondazione Spinola-Banna, Festival Acanthes (Metz), Fondazione ICO (Lecce), Festival Koinè, and many other renowned institutions.

His compositions—published by SZ Sugar—have been performed by leading conductors such as Antonio Pappano, Susanna Mälkki, Matthias Pintscher, Pascal Rophé, Marco Angius, Carlo Boccadoro, Emilio Pomarico, Fabio Maestri, Sandro Gorli, Jean Deroyer, and Andrea Pestalozza.

Corrado’s music has featured in major international festivals and concert seasons, including the Stagione dell’Orchestra Nazionale di Santa Cecilia (Rome), Manifeste 2012 and 2014 (Paris – Ensemble Intercontemporain, Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France), Biennale di Venezia (Ensemble L’Instant Donné, Orchestra Mitteleuropea), Musikprotokoll Festival (Graz – Klangforum Wien), MITO SettembreMusica (Quartetto Prometeo, Klangforum Wien), Teatro Massimo (Palermo), Teatro Donizetti (Bergamo), Slowind Festival (Ljubljana), Festival Pontino (Ensemble Multilatéral), Unione Musicale (Turin – Quintetto Bibiena), Radio France – Alla Breve (Paris – Ensemble Multilatéral), and the symphonic season of the Orchestra ICO di Lecce. His works have been broadcast by several European radio networks.
In addition to concert music, he has composed soundtracks and four operas—Mr. Macbeth, Alice Special Guest, Donizetti Alive, and Babbelish—all directed by the composer himself.
In 2019, Corrado founded the Syntax Ensemble, a collective of leading contemporary music performers, serving as its musical director.
